Tips to Get You From "Holiday Funk" to Productive Ladypreneur
It’s that time of year again, the holidays! (Or “daze” for some of us)
So much is going on, not only in our businesses but our personal lives as well. Parties and gift shopping alone can wipe us out, but there is also the aspect of loneliness and missing people who may not be with us anymore that can suck all of our motivation right out the window. We get caught in the “I really should be doing “this,” but I really just don’t feel like it, never-ending cycle. The. Struggle. Is. Real.
I am no stranger to those feelings and most of November and December, I feel like I have to “fake it til I make it.” I get stuck in a 6 week funk but come New Year’s Day, I’m back to my old productive and happy self and ready to take on the world again.
Emotions can sometimes over power productivity, but I’d like to share some tips that have helped me this time around.....
1.) Don’t beat yourself up over not getting what you think you need to be doing done. Life happens and it also happens to come with feelings attached to it. You aren’t always going to be 100% on your game and that’s okay. The feeling(s) will pass, they always do.
2.) Do something nice for your body and mind. For me it’s hiking. It helps clear my head, gives my serotonin levels a boost and nature is always a place of serenity for me. I always come home feeling more energized both physically and mentally. For you this may be a spin class, yoga, meditation, etc. Take the time to nurture yourself once a day.
3.) Read or watch something inspiring. That can be something as simple as a YouTube video. There are a lot of great YouTube’rs in business or life coaching that share their wisdom and that can be really helpful! I just downloaded “Think and Grow Rich” to my tablet and will be spending some time tonight reading that baby (again)! It’s an absolute classic and must read for anyone in business for themselves.
4.) Make a simple but effective to-do list for the day, or week. Even if you knocking these down 1 at a time, it will give you a sense of accomplishment and keep you on track.
5.) Get out and have some fun with friends! Sometimes all we need is a good meal, great company and some laughs to kick us back into gear.
