Who Am I?
With technology on the rise and businesses working and hiring “virtually,” we sometimes lose touch with the human interaction or “connection” of days past. It’s the way of the world now, but I wanted to take some time to introduce myself and tell you a little about who I am, how I got my start and what I stand for.
I was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley (Like, Oh. My. God. – We don’t really talk like that, I promise) In Los Angeles County, California.
I grew up surrounded by two very intelligent, free-spirited & humorous women (my Mother and Grandmother), who had a love for art, culture, animals, being in nature, playing sports & traveling. I guess it’s not surprising that I also love those things.
By the time I was 20, I lost both of my parents to cancer. At that point, I did not know how to pay bills, let alone run a household. I became a home owner overnight and felt truly lost. It was chaos, but luckily my Mother’s best friend came to my rescue. She taught me how to organize and pay my bills, and helped me set up a budget. I cannot tell you how much of a relief that was. BUT that wasn’t the end of my money struggles. I finally felt like I had some control over a situation I felt completely helpless in. Little did I know that this would not only benefit me during that time, but it played a huge part in where I am today and why I chose bookkeeping as my career.
Before I got my start in the accounting field, I spent almost 20 years in the beauty industry. I enjoyed making women look and feel beautiful but also loved the aspect of women helping uplift and empower each other in general, which is what inspired me to specialize in working with ladypreneurs today.
Over the years the beauty industry took a toll on my body physically and I knew I needed to find a way to channel my organizational “super powers” to help small businesses and be able to work remotely at the same time. It was then that everything began to come together. I soon took on the role of office manager and controller for a residential construction company. Attention to detail in the beauty business was a MUST and since I have a keen eye for detail, and take pride in being meticulous, bookkeeping became my new and unexpected love. I was able provide exceptional assistance to the company for two years. Shortly after an opportunity arose that really gave me the foundation I needed in the accounting field and lead me to pursue it as a career. I worked with a consulting and financial management company for several years. It was a wonderful experience and lead me to start my own company.
Being able to give other female entrepreneurs the peace of mind they need when it comes to their business & personal finances has been one of the most rewarding & fulfilling things I’ve been able to do and I hope to continue to help for many years to come.
